One of my favorite parts of having a newborn photography studio in Lancaster County is getting to know my clients and hearing their stories. Last winter, I had the privilege of meeting sweet baby Autumn and her big sister Eva. Mom & Dad were beyond excited to add a second baby girl to their family! When my clients come to my newborn photography studio in Lancaster, PA I enjoy listening to their stories and learning about their experiences. I am so often blessed to hear stories of God’s goodness and faithfulness, even in the midst of loss, heartache, and difficult circumstances. I am honored that my clients entrust me with the very special job of capturing memories of their new miracle babies during their first few days of life! Below you can read the story of Autumn and Eva… in mom’s own words: (there will be lots of images from their newborn session interspersed throughout the story, so be sure to read through until the very end!)
“Twins Separated at Conception” – Autumn & Eva’s Story | Newborn Photography Studio in Lancaster

Autumn & Eva
“We always knew we wanted to have children and we often talked about our future kids. After 2 years of marriage, we decided it was time to start our family. I remember sitting at the kitchen table the night we made the decision to start trying and the excitement I felt. I always loved kids and couldn’t wait to be a mother! I remember breastfeeding my baby dolls when I was a little girl!
“Like most couples, we assumed as soon as we stopped using birth control, I would get pregnant and in 9 months we’d be holding our baby. Unfortunately, it was not that simple. Month after month, we were not successful. Each time I got my period, I felt increasingly sad, disappointed, and frustrated.
“After a year of negative pregnancy tests, we decided to find out what was wrong. After seeing a variety of specialists, we found out I had ovulation issues and my husband had sperm issues. We had a 1% chance of conceiving naturally. We decided to try intrauterine insemination (IUI) because a few of my friends had success with it. Seven months of Clomid and 6 IUIs later, we were still not pregnant.
“At that point we knew our only hope to get pregnant was with In Vitro Fertilization (IVF). We had heard how invasive and expensive it was but we were desperate and willing to do anything to make a baby. IVF was incredibly difficult physically, emotionally, and financially but worth it in the end. After 4 years, countless procedures, ultrasounds, blood work, and injections, we were pregnant!

“We welcomed our sweet baby girl, Eva, in December of 2014. When Eva turned 2, we were ready for another child. We implanted another embryo (that had been frozen for 3 years) and welcomed Eva’s sister, Autumn, in December of 2017. They are “twins separated at conception,” meaning they came from the same batch of eggs and sperm, but I carried them at different times. I even saved the petri dishes our miracles were conceived in!
“Eva and Autumn are such a blessing to us and we thank God every day for them. Our journey was definitely not easy or what we thought it would be, but it was all part of God’s perfect plan.”
“But if we look forward to something we don’t yet have, we must wait patiently and confidently”. –Romans 8:25
