I am so excited to tell you about my recent business partnership with Lancaster Maternal Fetal Medicine! But first, a little background. Lancaster Maternal Fetal Medicine (MFM) is a specialty OB practice that cares for expectant mommas who may have an increased risk for complications during their pregnancies. I have a personal connection with the doctors and care-givers at MFM, having been a former patient for 3 of my 4 pregnancies! (more on that later in this post). Recently, Lancaster MFM has opened a new, private-practice office building at 108 Foxshire Drive, Lancaster, right across from the Starbucks on Fruitville Pike. You can visit their new website HERE.
A few weeks ago, one of the employees at MFM contacted me and wondered if I would be interested in displaying some of my photography in their new office. Of course, my answer was YES! After some discussion, it was decided that I would display a series of canvas art featuring macro images (close-ups) of babies’ hands, feet, lips, toes and eyelashes, in addition to a few pregnant bellies! I met with a representative from MFM the following day, and two weeks later my artwork was on display in their new office! Below is a video of my work on display, followed by individual images of each canvas.
Here are the original images displayed in the office.
I was honored to be asked to donate my artwork to help decorate Lancaster MFM’s new office facility. As I mentioned above, I was a former patient of Lancaster MFM for three of my four pregnancies. My oldest son was born with a rare congenital heart defect that was not discovered until he was three months old. He has undergone four major open-heart surgeries in addition to many other invasive procedures and regular monitoring. We are thankful to say that he is currently seven years old and doing very well! When I found out I was pregnant with my second son, my OB recommended that I go to Lancaster Maternal Fetal Medicine for monitoring throughout my pregnancy. Thankfully, baby boy #2 did not show any signs of a congenital heart defect, but he was measuring very BIG! LMFM recommended that I be induced a week early… and I gave birth to a 10 pound, 10 ounce baby! With my third pregnancy, in addition to being monitored for congenital heart defects in my baby, I was also considered potentially “high-risk” due to being over the age of 35. It was discovered that my 3rd baby had a fetal arrhythmia (irregular heartbeat in utero) which was also monitored by Lancaster MFM. By my fourth pregnancy, I had become a regular in the office! The skilled doctors at MFM suspected that my fourth son had a minor heart defect known as an Ebstein Anomaly. This was confirmed after he was born, but thankfully it is a minor issue that may or may not ever cause any symptoms.
I share all these details with you to tell you that I’ve had a long history with Lancaster Maternal Fetal Medicine and my experience there has always been a positive one! The doctors and sonographers were always very kind and caring. They took the time to explain what was going on with my pregnancies and treated me with respect. Being referred to an OB specialist can sometimes feel a bit daunting and scary, but at Lancaster MFM, you will be in the best of hands!
