Frequently Asked Questions
What is the Five Year Bible Plan?
The Five Year Bible Plan is a chronological reading plan designed for teen boys. Your boys will read one chapter of the Bible each day, for five days a week. At this pace, he will read through the entire Bible in about 5 years.
Why five years?
If you start this plan when your son turns 13, or enters 7th grade, he will have read through the entire Bible before graduating from high school. Many Christian adults have never read through the Bible. What a great way to prepare your son to head out into the world.
The Bible is not merely a collection of individual stories in one volume. The Bible is actually one big story—the story of God’s plan to rescue humanity from sin and restore our relationship with himself. Part of understanding the One Big Story of the Bible is to read it in the order that the events actually happened.
How to Use the Journal Entries
This Bible reading plan is unique because it has a place for a short journal entry for each day. After your son reads the chapter for the day, encourage him to write down ONE thing in the journal box. This could be: What is one thing you learned about God today? What is something that surprised you? What were you challenged to do? What do you want to remember? What question do you have about this passage? Write a one sentence summary of what you read today. What was the main topic?
Where is the rest of the reading plan?
Currently, only year one is available to download. But years 2-5 will be coming soon! After you download Year One, you’ll be added to my mailing list. You will receive an email when the additional years are ready to download.
Is it too late for my son to start?
Of course not! It’s never too late to start reading God’s Word.
What if I want to read the Bible in LESS than 5 years?
You can read more than one chapter a day, or read more than 5 days a week.
Do I have to use the journal entries?
You can just print the checklist at the end of The Five Year Bible Plan pdf if you don’t want to use the journal entries.
