FALL BOOKS FOR KIDS
I wanted to share with you my five favorite fall books for kids! Fall is my favorite season! One of the things I love best about fall is grabbing a hot cup of coffee or chai late and snuggling up on the couch to read books with my boys. I have a collection of children’s books for each season and I love switching out the boxes of books as soon as the leaves start to fall. Below are a few of our favorite fall books for kids! I’d love to hear if you have any favorites to add! Feel free to comment below!
1. LITTLE BLUE TRUCK’S HALLOWEEN
My kids love the adorable pictures of the animals dressed up in their costumes. The fight over who is going to open each flap!
“Who’s this clown with a big red nose, and a cap that jingles wherever he goes? Under the mask, who do you see?”
“Baa” says the sheep, “It’s me! It’s me!”
2. THE LONELY SCARECROW
This book teaches a great lesson about appearances – it’s not what you look like on the outside that’s important, but what’s on the inside, in your heart.
“In the middle of a field under a sky the color of cornflowers, stood a scarecrow. He had a scary face, but a kindly heart. More than anything, he wished that the animals and birds would be his friends.”
3. TRACTOR MAC – HARVEST TIME
Billy Steers has written an entire series of books about this lovable tractor. There’s one for every season and every occasion. My kids love these stories about T-MAC (modeled after an old 1948 Farmall tract0r). In this book, Mac isn’t so sure he’s cut out for working in the apple orchard. He’d much rather be across the road at the pumpkin picking festival.
“The nights were getting cooler, the corn was ready to harvest, and the huge orange pumpkin-patch signs were set up across the road from Stony Meadow Farm.”

4. THE LITTLE OLD LADY WHO WAS NOT AFRAID OF ANYTHING
This is such a fun “not-so-scary” book for Halloween. The little old lady goes for a walk in the woods and finds that she is being followed! But she is NOT afraid of anything!
“Get out of my way, you two big shoes! I’m not afraid of you!” said the little old lady. On she walked down the path, but behind her she could hear two shoes go… CLOMP, CLOMP.”
5. TOO MANY PUMPKINS
This time of year, pumpkins are everywhere! But have you ever met someone who HATED pumpkins? Well, let me introduce you to Rebecca Estelle! But what in the world will she do when her yard is overgrown with the detested round, orange viney things?!
“Pumpkins!” She cried in disgust. I will not water those plants. I will not tend them. I will ignore them and they will die.”
Well, those are my five favorite fall books for kids! Have you read any of these with your kiddos? Do you have any other fall books for kids that you love in your family? I’d love to hear in the comments below!
